Rethink Waste at Macksville Laneway Festival

March 2023 | Macksville, NSW, Australia

A local community festival with a creative focus, the Macksville Laneway Festival saw a packed and diverse audience. With a commitment to monitor bins throughout the evening the Rethink Team engaged with 399 people assisting with sorting waste and providing information about waste streams. A Rethink Plastic stall provided event goers information about switching away from plastics with many items on display and some free giveaways. Patrons were encouraged to make PLASTIC-FREE pledges to reduce their impact on the environment.

250 litres of compostable materials and 240L of co-mingled recycling were diverted from landfill throughout the event.

  • "Thank you for your commitment to bettering our earth, it will eventually make for a better world for my children and grandchildren!!"

    - Attendee

  • “Yellow bins are often contaminated at events. Waste companies are no longer providing this service for event holders - meaning a lot of recyclable items are heading to landfill.”
