Macro Muster 4

May 2023 | Arthur Keoughs Reserve & Bellingen Showground, Bellingen, NSW Australia

Our Research Question : Can a group of citizen scientists work together to do an accurate count of macroinvertebrates at multiple sites in a short amount of time?

We hosted a training event and a macroinvertebrate monitoring citizen science event, where 62 community members worked together to complete a full count of the waterbugs at 5 sites across the Bellinger and Kalang catchments.

  • "The OzGreen team and partners coordinated an incredibly successful program with the help of many community members and school groups involved in the collection and identification. I learned more than I expected and met amazing people who shared the same fascination for the natural world. A fantastic experience I am looking forward to reliving at the next Muster!"
